Ultrasonic irrigator used seven days a week

Eighteen months on and still going strong, the Soniclean S-2800 ultrasonic irrigator is performing well for the upgraded sterile services department at Southport General Hospital.


The ultrasonic cleaner is used to process all cannulated and lumen instruments that are difficult to clean, especially heavily soiled orthopaedic items. Decontamination manager, Robbie Cormie said: “The S-2800 is used seven days a week and is an important part of the decontamination process.”


Sterile service supervisor, Debra Gough, added: “Cannulated and lumen instruments, anything that’s difficult to clean, such as the trauma trays and nailing equipment, go into the Soniclean.”
